DFI made a submission on the new statement of strategy for the Department of Children, Equality and Disability. DFI asked the department to focus on disability when preparing its statement, including issues of

• poverty,
• employment,
• the Cost of Disability,
• assistive technology,
• community services,
• under 65s in nursing homes,
• and housing.

We also requested the department focus on the implementation of the UN CRPD, with a special focus on local implementation. We noted that accomplishing this work would require strong inter-departmental work.
