We are a user led organisation founded in October 2010 to pilot a system of Direct Payments. Our aim is to pilot this system of Direct Payments to test out the practicalities of all that has been learnt from both Irish and international research. Fighting Blindness is an Irish patient-led charity funding and enabling world-leading research into treatments and cures for blindness. It provides a professional counselling service to support people and families affected by sight loss. Through education and advocacy Fighting Blindness works to empower the 246,000 adults and children in Ireland living with severe vision impairement and blindness.
Fighting Blindness was set up as a support group in 1983 by families affected by sight loss and has now evolved to become a charity funding world-leading research into treatments and cures.
