FINAL Annual Review 2019 - interactive version

Not all disabilities are visible, in fact as many as 80% of disabilities are invisible.

That means 514,505 people in Ireland like #PurpleLights founder Gary Kearney.

Gary was left for dead on O’Connell Street Dublin after an unprovoked attack left him with a brain injury.

This year the theme for United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities, #IDPwD20, is people with invisible disabilities. Too often they, as well as their disability, are invisible.

Never has it been more important to know that many people with compromised immune systems or various lung diseases are in our neighbourhoods. Their disability is invisible, but your support need not be. They really need space and extra consideration during this pandemic.

We’re asking our member organisations, public and private companies as well as local authorities to get involved.

See our previous campaign video wrap here, featuring the GPO, Rock of Cashel and many more landmark buildings all over Ireland.

Here are three easy steps to how everyone and every place can get involved.

Those interested can contact DFI for social media resources or just follow and share the campaign on our social media channels.
