Make Way Day 2020 'National Day of Local Action on Accessibility'

‘Make Way Day’ is a national public awareness campaign to highlight the issues people with disabilities face getting around their communities. “Hey, this blocks my way!” is the message.
This year, because of COVID-19, we are moving the campaign online. The event has gone viral every year and this year it's totally virtual! Our usual guerilla stickering will be out. Instead, local authorities will host accessibility meet-ups for our activists to get involved in.
For the first time, Make Way Day will be supported by all 31 City and County Councils in Ireland in 2020.
To celebrate this historic event, we are inviting each county to set up a virtual Make Way Day. This will be a virtual meeting where you can get involved with other disability and community groups in your county, or city to work with the council to take action on access in your county.
Our aim is to have this great national debate on local access issues at 11.00 a.m. on Make Way Day, Friday, 24th September, all over Ireland. The hashtag is #MakeWayDay20.
We hope that this online version of the event will collapse the distance between people and offer solidarity to people with disabilities who continue to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This we believe will build a sense of community and belonging for the people involved.
