DFI Submission on the proposed Vehicle Adaptation Scheme

DFI welcomes the proposal to introduce a separate, needs-based vehicle adaptation grant scheme for disabled people. A well-designed scheme has the potential to improve independence, mobility and participation by enabling disabled people to access vehicles that meet their individual needs.
However, the scheme must be accessible, equitable, transparent and responsive to the diverse needs of disabled drivers and passengers. It must also provide appropriate safeguards to ensure that vehicle adaptations are safe, suitable and affordable.
