The Assistive Technology Capacity Assessment (ATA‑C) Report for Ireland is the most comprehensive review to date of how assistive technology is planned, funded and delivered nationally. Conducted by the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe (2024–2025), it provides an evidence base that is relevant to DFI members’ advocacy and service planning, highlighting current gaps, barriers to access and priority actions to strengthen AT provision.

Siobhán Long, National Manager, Assistive Technology Training Service at Enable Ireland was on the advisory group supporting this work. Siobhan warmly welcomes the publication of this ambitious report, which is informed by a very strong and extensive consultation process with diverse stakeholders from across and beyond the disability sector.

We look forward to working closely with DCDE to implement the recommendations of this report.

The full report, summary report, and easy‑to‑read version of the ATA‑C Ireland reports are now available on the DCDE website.

FreedomTech, the initiative delivered in partnership between DFI and Enable Ireland aims to ensure people with disabilities have access to affordable, modern technology. A CHAT event will be held on Thursday 21 May to reflect on the Report.
