Right To Act Campaign

NUIG

The Centre for Disability Law and Policy at NUI Galway, as co-ordinator of the EU PERSON project, has today launched a campaign to push governments, private entities and individuals to implement Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Do you think people with disabilities should have the right to make decisions about their lives?

Would you accept it if someone removed your right to decide where and with whom to live, or what healthcare treatment to have, or whether you could vote or get married? Do you believe this is a major human rights issue of our time? If so, it’s time to act. Go to our campaign website www.righttoactcampaign.com to find out how you can get involved.

Interested? Here’s how you can help:

Sign the declaration:
- Add your name to the list of people who support right to act. If you simply send an email to eu.person@nuigalway.ie endorsing the declaration we will add your name to the list of signatories on our website.

Add your face to the Right to Act campaign!
- Print out (or make your own) Right to Act sign (attached) – Take your photo and send it to eu.person@nuigalway.ie with your name, location and why you think this right is important.

Tell us why YOU think the right to act is important:
- Email eu.person@nuigalway.ie telling us why you think legal capacity and the Right to Act campaign is important and why you’re committed to making a change.

- Send us a guest post on the Right to Act in your country or local community, and we'll add it to our blog.
