A picture really does speak a thousand words. These animations from our Unlocking Freedom Final Conference reflect discussions on the day. The event brought a three-year long project supporting adults with ID to lead more independent lives to a close.

Societies barriers are our Kryptonite, but independence is our power!

Along with community responsibility, the panel discussion acknowledged the persons determination as key.

Out with the old and in with the new. Ireland is moving forward and people with disabilities are leading the way. We're leaving misconceptions behind and taking inclusive policy with us.

We agreed that as individuals and services we have work to do, but policy should provide a supportive foundation.

Two cartoon people at the centre of everything

If the person isn't at the center, then we know we've gone off track.

Our ministers opening speech highlighted how important it is to have the person at the center of not only services, but policy too.

Cartons of Finan McGrath observing a person starting a journey

Who knew our minister got so animated when talking about his passion?

Minister Finian McGrath's opening speech spoke highly of persons with disabilities, acknowledging everyone has talents and skills.

Unlocking Freedom through adult education - Nothing final about this final conference – we still have a long way to go to full community integration.

Our project lead Cathy McGrath acknowledged although this project is ending, it's achievements are not. The learning and resources developed from the work are ready to be applied in the community. Now we must figure out how this can happen.
