We are putting together a calendar of acitivities, events and webinars that our member organisations are doing during COVID-19. Please see the information below:
Ongoing New Events
Aware has started a new phone-in Support & Self Care Group as well as a new Zoom Support & Self Care Group available from their website every Tuesday and Friday - find out more information from their websitehttps://www.aware.ie/support/support-groups/#Zoom
May 18th – May 24th marks National Epilepsy Week and sees a number of epilepsy organisations from the UK & Ireland come together to raise awareness of the condition.
23rd: As part of Boston Scientific’s larger COVID19 Community Initiative Support, Virtual Bingo Night will be held at 7pm on Saturday 23rd May in support of seven local Galway charities including the Irish Wheelchair Assocation IWA and Cope Galway. All money raised will be divided between the chosen charities including IWA and Cope in Galway. For IWA, all money raised will go directly into their IWA Galway Bus Fund to replace our ageing fleet, so we can continue to carry out Resource & Outreach activities, on the front line.
29th: AHEAD week 10 webinar (final) at 2.30 PM: Inclusive Mobility & Student Wellbeing. Speakers include; Dominique Montagnese & Valérie Van Hees, Support Centre for Inclusive Higher Education, Rachel Davies, De Montfort University, and Marjolein Büscher-Touwen & Dr Karien Coppens, Expert Centre on Inclusive Education.
30th: The MS Society of Ireland are doing a virtual balloon race on Saturday 30th May; balloons launched at 12 noon. Click here to buy a balloon for €5
Ongoing: Museum: Join the Glucksman online Every Tuesday and Friday, the Glucksman will share the response of a single artist and provide some additional information on their wider practice. The artists explore the shared challenges of being at home, the frustrations, boredom, anxiety, but also the capacity to reflect, create and connect.
8th-14th: is Carers Week , which will take place virtually this year. More details will become available on their website www.carersweek.ie
03rd: Dyspraxia / DCD Ireland Summit 2020 "From Practice to Research and Back Again: Addressing the Needs of Children with DCD". Keynote speaker is Professor Helene Polatajko - Prof. Helene Polatajko is a Professor at the University of Toronto, in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Faculty.
30th: Hallowe'en Fright Night Drimnagh Castle - Each year, WALK hosts the scariest 'fright night' of the year in Drimnagh Castle.
6-8: DEBRA Ireland's Kerry Challenge involves three days of trekking through the beautiful, challenging Dingle Peninsula (20-25km per day).
7-8: Every year, since 2013, WALK transforms Drimnagh Castle in to a Christmas Winter Wonderland.This is an opportunity for service users and staff of WALK to meet the people in our local community and many great times, stories and memories have been shared at this event.
